Before filing a formal complaint, please verify that the content actually infringes your copyright. Educational use often falls under fair use provisions, especially when discussing game mechanics or programming concepts.
Required Information
Your DMCA notice must include these details to be considered valid:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Description of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed
- Description of the infringing material and its location on our site
- Your contact information including phone number and email
- Good faith statement that use is not authorized
- Accuracy statement made under penalty of perjury
Our Response Process
We typically respond within 48 hours of receiving a complete DMCA notice. If content needs removal, we'll notify the person who posted it and provide opportunity for counter-notification. This process protects both copyright holders and users from false claims.
For educational content that references copyrighted games or development tools, we evaluate each case individually. Many discussions about game mechanics fall under educational fair use, but we remove content when copyright violation is clear.
Counter-Notification Rights
If your content gets removed and you believe the claim was incorrect, you can file a counter-notification. We'll restore the material unless the original complainant files a court action within 10 business days.
Counter-notifications require the same level of detail as original complaints. False counter-notifications carry legal penalties, so only file if you're confident your use was legitimate.
